Lotus flowers have been a symbol of transformation for thousands of years.  The roots of a lotus sit in mud, the stem grows up through the water, and the scented flowers blooms in the light of the sun.  This pattern of growth symbolizes the progress of the soul through the primeval mud of materialism, through the waters of experience, and into the sunshine of enlightenment.  In an increasingly fast-paced world where distraction can often times lead us astray from our true being, we need to remember to take time to nourish our mind, body, and soul.
